Our first ever appletizers! We took whole wheat crostini and spread goat cheese on them. We added the strawberry and apple chips for garnish, color, and flavor. The mixture of the tart goat cheese with the natural sweetness of the apple chip, along with a slight strawberry flavor, would be a great appetizer for any party. There were absolutely delicious!

Our Apple Chip Waldorf Salad

We have been experimenting in the kitchen with our flavorful apple chips, and we have come up with our very own Apple Chip Waldorf Salad. We used fresh spinach and romaine lettuce. We added blueberries, pecans, and apple chips, and then we topped it with a beautiful raspberry vinaigrette. The apple chips were the perfect addition to the salad, giving it a flavorful crunch to an already tasty salad!

Exciting Things To Come

We are super excited about our new slideshow that is almost ready to put on the website. Here is a sneak peak of what is to come. We have been working on it for the last couple weeks.

Also check out our facebook to see when we are demoing this week! We have a brand new picture that we designed.

Hood River Orchard

Apples are in bloom right now! We get our Red Delicious Apples from the Pacific Northwest. For the upcoming season, we are going to get our apples from Hood River. Here are some pictures of the orchard. Mount Hood just happens to be perfectly in the background. Orchards are beautiful  in the spring as you can see. From the orchard to the bag, Sisters Apple Chips are local and delicious. All photos are Russ Gorman Photography!

Those Lovely Moments

We took pictures for the website the other day but there were quite a few funny pictures that we felt that we had to post. So here they are... I hope they make you smile a bit!

This is Jack our dog. Sometimes he gets really excited and looks like a bat.

This is when Heidi accidentally elbowed me in the head. Surprisingly, we got it on camera.

(Left) I decided to twirl Heidi on the swing. She wasn't very happy, but it made really funny picture.  (Right) Heidi really wanted to be in the picture it looks like.

She was told to pose. This is what happened next.

I know what you are thinking. A job well done. So it was time to high five it out!

I do promise that we did get some good photos. You will probably see them popping up elsewhere. We just thought we couldn't miss an opportunity to show you some of the wonderful moments that we have.

Raising Money For Charity

This year we made around 1,000 cookies and sold them at Papa's Car Toys to raise money for Doernbecher's Childrens Hospital. Heidi and I, with the help of my dad, baked chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, peanut butter cookies, and white chocolate raspberry cookies. We baked them all day before and bagged them up to get ready for the day tomorrow!

Race for the Roses

Remembering our first 10k together and how much fun it was! We got up bright eyed and bushy tailed to go and run in downtown Portland. I definitely can't wait to sign up for another race sometime in June or July. It was definitely an adrenaline rush to be surrounded by so many people who were working hard, as well as support an charity!

So until next year...

After the race we went to a breakfast joint called "New Deal Cafe" in Downtown Portland. Heidi and I split a vegetable egg scramble and a Marionberry Scone. It was delicious! I can't wait to go back.

Leave Only Footprints

Summer is just around the corner, and that means endless hikes throughout the Pacific Northwest. Its just about time to put on those hiking boots, put hair in a braid, and start walking.

Some of the hikes that we are looking forward to this summer are the Silver Falls Hike in Silverton, Oregon. There are 10 beautiful waterfalls and there are a couple falls that  you can walk right underneath.

Another hike that we look forward to completing is Mary's Peak in Corvallis, Oregon. It is a 6.2 mile hike that when you get to the top, you can see all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

The Apple Chip Rose Cake

Both my sister and I bake frequently, and we decided to put our baking skills to the test to create an Apple Chip Cake. We believe the process went quite splendidly. We decided to make a Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting because we thought that it would complement the natural flavors of our apple chips. We then went  in search of a recipe and we came across the Spiced Applesauce Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting from A Hint of Honey.

We made a two layer cake, baked it, and then frosted it. And then it was time for the decorating...

We started on the edges and kept adding apple chips. Apple chip after apple chip after apple chip.

Finally, it started to come together. Our Spice Cake had become the Rose Cake. So not only was it delicious, it looked just like a rose.

Our finished product! Try to make it at home and send us your picture and we will put you on the blog!

Introduction of the Sisters

Welcome to our blog!
We are two sisters who believe in choosing a healthy lifestyle.  We represent our family owned company, Sisters Fruit Co, which sells delicious, nutritious apple chips. As we travel around our neighborhood, state, or even our country, we want to share our story.   This blog is not only a way to promote a product we feel strongly about, but is also a means of documenting our travels, insights, and adventures. Our small, locally owned business has the opportunity to bring a healthy product into a snack market that is lacking in nutritional content. Follow us throughout our adventures as we reinvent the apple and see where life takes us, beyond the stem.
